Need Motivation

Ugh! It’s been one those days. I woke up late, forgot to pack my husband’s lunch, forgot to pay a bill, and my babies are crying at the same time. It’s hard being a mom, not to mention all of the other daily duties that are  included on the list. Some days I think, “What was I thinking about becoming a mom and a wife?” No, I don’t regret being a mother and wife. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I came up with six ways to stay motivated. Of course, I know six ways are short, but these six techniques are essential to me.  

Sometimes I think that I am supposed to be Supermom, able to conquer any and everything in the world. Today, I am just not feeling motivated.  When I feel like this, I have to remember the simple things. Staying focused can be extremely difficult when you’re a mom. Of course, I have those days when I feel like I am a bad mom because I don’t feel motivated. When this happens, I look into my little ones’ faces and remember they are my motivation.

My purpose as a mom is to provide for my children. Not being motivated will make me feel like not doing anything at all. Above all, it is up to me to get myself motivated and happy. I am just going to share six tips I use to get motivated. As a result, maybe some of my tips can help you.

6 Ways I Stay Motivated

1.            Schedule

I create a plan for myself. Generally, I make a list of goals and chores to do for the week. This list is completed a week before so that I know what I need to do in advance. It is broken down by the days of the week. Each day as I accomplish my duty, I check things off as I complete them. Check out; this website has plenty of ideas for schedules and more. 

2.            Procrastination

Don’t procrastinate. If you do, it will cause you problems. Believe me. I found this out the hard way. I used to put things off only to have them back up on me. Now, after they would back up on me, I would get stressed and overwhelmed. Lesson learned. Why should I put this off for tomorrow when I can do it today?  Above all feeling overwhelmed and stressed out can make you feel less motivated.

3.            Exercise

While this one seems impossible you can do it. For instance  I try to get up at 5:30 am. Thirty minutes before my kids wake up for school. So I figure a 30-minute exercise would be good. I also try to do a small work out with the kids and while during some of my chores. Getting my children involved with the exercises I do encourages them to work out with me. It also gives me more energy to keep up with my children.

4.           Eating the Right Food

Sometimes, as a mom, we forget about feeding ourselves the right food. I mean we get so busy we reach for junk food because it’s quick.  Usually when I eat junk food; I feel sluggish and tired. Then I want to sit down and don’t want to do anything.  As a result of taking vitamins and drinking plenty of water has been very beneficial to me.

5.            Sleep

First of all, this is always difficult. Whether you’re a stay at home mom or a working mom, it seems like sleep is nearly impossible, especially when you have a newborn or baby that is teething. I try to go to bed early, but that doesn’t happen too often. I have to say I like to take a nap after I fix my little ones’ lunch.  We all take a thirty-minute to an hour nap.  It just depends on how much sleep we got the night before. Now, when I was a working mom, I would take a nap on my lunch break. I call them “power naps.” As a result power naps would always boost my energy.

6.            Rewards

Yes, I reward myself. Little rewards keep me motivated. Let’s face it; we all like prizes. Enjoying a nice relaxing bath is one of my favorite rewards.  Although, the majority of my rewards are very simple such as watching a movie, working on a DIY project, or taking a nice relaxing bath. Spending a little money on shopping or the spa doesn’t hurt every once in a while.

Self Care

Finally and most importantly take care of yourself. Try not to stress too much and expect the unexpected. Furthermore, things change all the time, so you may not be able to reach every one of your goals on the schedule for one day.  Just be realistic with yourself and do what you can do.  I usually try to take care of the essential things first. Think positive thoughts and take it one day at a time. That is how you stay motivated. Hopefully, some of my tips have been resourceful for you.
