How can I be happy? What does it mean to be satisfied? – defines happy as characterized by or indicative of pleasure, contentment, or joy. Well, this definition sounds like something everyone wants. Although being happy is a mood. Some people don’t know how to be satisfied. Of course, it is not always easy to comfortable. Different situations may happen in your life and make it hard for you to be happy. You must want to be satisfied. Being happy is a choice that you must make. Honestly, there have been plenty of times when I was unhappy. But that’s okay because I realize that I’m in control of being happy in my life.

It is essential to know yourself. Once you know yourself, then you will be pleased with yourself. Happiness is a mindset. You must believe that you can change your mood to make yourself happy. Take charge because you are in control of your feelings.

Find something that makes you happy. I know it is easy to remember negative memories. However, your positive memories can be stronger than your negative memories. Take time out to take a cruise, see a funny movie, or enjoy the company of family and friends.

Yes, I know that bad things happen all the time. It is crucial to find the good things in these situations. For example, being evicted from your home. Take this opportunity to exam your financial skills. Also, re-evaluate if you are living beyond your means. Or another example is if your car breaks down. Well, this allows you the opportunity to evaluate how you treat your vehicle. Or maybe it’s time to get a new one.

Practice Gratitude

Be grateful for the things you do have, and don’t worry about the rest. Gratitude is one of the essential parts of being happy. Although we are not always grateful for what we have, practicing gratitude will help change that. Having gratitude allows you to focus on the things you do have in your life. Appreciate your life and watch your happiness increase.

Hey, did you know that we can be our worst enemy sometimes. Especially when it comes to thinking negatively.  It’s not good to keep thinking about how your life didn’t go as planned. Although, some people get stuck on this thought, and then they enter the self-judgment stage. And that is when the negative thinking pattern starts to grow. Ideas begin to cloud your mind about being rejected, unsuccessful, and you start worrying about everything. However, when you find yourself thinking negative thoughts, stop, and focus on pleasant thoughts. Even though your life may not be going as planned, you are still alive. Look at things in your life that make you happy, such as your family and friends.

I believe if you live within your means, you will be able to progress towards getting a bigger home and a better car. The most important thing is not to get into debt. What is my purpose in life? After all, I know I am not the only one that has asked myself this question. Find out what gives you a sense of purpose and then go after it. I know everyone wants to impact the world positively. To find your purpose in life, you have to do what you love to do. Then find out what comes natural to you. Also, it is a good idea to think back to your childhood. What were your talents? What made you happy? Some examples are pets, music, and art. If you love pets and you find it easy to work with them, maybe you should do something with pets. The same thing goes for music and art. Do something that involves music and dance.

Try new things. Don’t do things the same way every day because you’re afraid to try something new. Face life head-on and challenge yourself. Become that go-getter and enjoy it. As a result, you will find new things that you never thought would make you happy. It is important to remember; you will never know until you try.

Unfortunately, I had a problem with speaking up for myself.  I had this problem because I was shy.  Of course, people would see that it was easy to take advantage of me. They used to walk all over me, and that made me unhappy. Over time I have learned to speak up for myself. As well as speak my mind. It is essential to realize that no one is going to speak up for you.  You must be strong and be your advocate.  As a result, you will see that you will become happier. Because you stood up for yourself. 

Clarify your emotions

Find out what makes you happy, sad, and mad. Understanding your emotions will lead to happiness because you will be able to accept your feelings. It is also essential to find out what causes those emotions. Nick Wignall has an excellent article about emotional clarity.

Be Helpful

Sometimes if you feel down, being helpful can pick you up. For example, volunteering at the hospital is something that can pick you up. If you take some time to read a book to a sick child. It will make their day. The reward you will receive is their smile. Of course, a child’s smile can lift anyone’s spirit when they are feeling down.

Connect with others

Being around other people is very helpful in making you happy.  Above all, people enjoy doing things more when they are around other people. When you connect socially, you build meaningful relationships. Of course, being around people allow you to share happy moments and show gratitude towards them. Doing this lets them know you care about them.
